Corey Johnson

Founder, COJO Strategies

Corey Johnson is the founder and principal of COJO Strategies, a government relations consulting firm. From 2014 to 2021, Corey represented District 3 – which includes Hell's Kitchen, Chelsea, the West Village – and the New York City AIDS Memorial – on the New York City Council, becoming the first openly HIV+ politician in New York State. From 2018 to 2021 Corey served as the Speaker of the City Council. During his time in the Council, Corey served on seven committees, chairing the Committee on Health, and was a member of the LGBT Caucus. As a Council Member, he championed LGBTQ+ rights, criminal justice reform, affordable housing, and protections for victims of domestic violence. Johnson previously served as Director of Programs at GLAAD and continues to be a nationally recognized advocate for equality and social justice. He is currently a Trustee of the Community Service Society, a board member of LGBTQ Victory Fund and a board member of the New York City AIDS Memorial.
